Ex-Pacer Stands Up for Team Following Dramatic Game 1 Defeat

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Boston Celtics narrowly escaped with a win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers, but former NBA player Austin Rivers believes it’s time to give the Pacers their due credit.

Despite being heavy favorites, the Celtics had to push the game into overtime with 20 more free throws, turnovers, and an epic three-pointer. Rivers, speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, defended the Pacers, stating that they should feel confident about their chances in the series.

Rivers pointed out that the Pacers have earned their spot in the playoffs and shouldn’t be discredited for their achievements this season. He emphasized that the Pacers didn’t reach this stage by luck and chance, and they have proven that they can compete with top teams like the Celtics.

While some may argue that the Celtics faced weakened opponents in previous rounds, Rivers highlighted that every team can only play against who is in front of them. He believes that the Pacers have shown they are a formidable opponent and shouldn’t be underestimated, even if they ultimately lose the series.

As the series progresses, it will be interesting to see if the Pacers can continue to challenge the Celtics and potentially pull off an upset. Rivers’ defense of the Pacers adds an extra layer of intrigue to an already exciting playoff matchup.
