KKR Moves to Top Spot After Thumping Win Over LSG in IPL
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 6 (ANI): The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been on fire in the ongoing IPL, and their latest match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) only solidified their dominance. The “men in purple” defended a mammoth 236-run target against LSG, winning by 98 runs and moving to the top of the points table.
Sunday was indeed a special day for all KKR fans, including those in the Bollywood fraternity. Suhana Khan and Ananya Panday, both avid KKR supporters, took to social media to express their elation over the team’s remarkable win.
Sharing a picture of the points table on Instagram, Suhana wrote, “#1 (purple heart emojis),” while Ananya captioned her post, “Best feeling @kkriders.”
In the game at the Ekana stadium, KKR batted first after LSG won the toss. Narine’s impressive 81, along with contributions from Phil Salt, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Ramandeep Singh, propelled KKR to 235/6 in their 20 overs. In response, LSG struggled to chase the target, with Stoinis and Rahul being the top scorers as they were bundled out for 137.
KKR’s top bowlers, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy, played a crucial role in securing the win. With this victory, KKR now stands at the top of the table with eight wins and 16 points, while LSG is at fifth place with six wins and 12 points.
KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer praised the team’s performance, highlighting the positive mindset and freedom given to the players, especially uncapped ones like Narine and Salt, who have been instrumental in the team’s success. (ANI)
