Exciting News: A New ‘Hunger Games’ Book and Movie are on the Way! | Entertainment Update

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Suzanne Collins, the renowned author of “The Hunger Games” series, is set to release a new novel titled “Sunrise on the Reaping” on March 18, 2025. This fifth installment in the dystopian series takes readers back to the Fiftieth Hunger Games, set 24 years before the original book was published in 2008.

The announcement of the new book has sparked excitement among fans of the franchise, which has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and been translated into numerous languages. Collins had previously stated that she was moving on from the series after the publication of “Mockingjay” in 2010, but surprised everyone with the release of “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” in 2020.

In “Sunrise on the Reaping,” Collins draws inspiration from the Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume, exploring themes of implicit submission and the power of propaganda. The novel promises to delve deeper into the narrative control and the age-old question of “Real or not real?” which has been a recurring theme in the series.

The film adaptation of the new book is already in the works, with Lionsgate announcing a release date of November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence, who has directed several of the previous “Hunger Games” movies, will return to helm the project.

With the upcoming novel and film, fans of “The Hunger Games” can look forward to revisiting the captivating world of Panem and experiencing a new chapter in the gripping saga of survival and rebellion.
