Exciting Openings and Upcoming Debuts Across IHG Hotels & Resorts in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean Heat Up the Region

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is making waves in the luxury and lifestyle hospitality sector with its impressive growth in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean (MLAC). With a strategic focus on this important segment, IHG has already opened five properties in 2024 and has 32 more in the pipeline, set to double its presence in the region in the coming years.

Leanne Harwood, SVP, Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, “The significant expansion of our luxury and lifestyle portfolio across the Mexico, Latin America, and Caribbean markets demonstrates our brands continue to not only be in demand but are also embraced for their distinct offerings.”

The latest openings and upcoming properties in the region offer a diverse range of experiences for both leisure and business travelers.

Six Senses, known for its wellness and sustainability focus, made its debut in the region with Six Senses La Sagesse in Grenada. The resort offers unique experiences that connect guests with Grenada’s heritage, including farm-to-table cooking and spa treatments using local ingredients. More Six Senses properties are set to open in the region, including Six Senses Grand Bahama and Six Senses Xala.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the world’s first luxury hotel brand, has a strong presence in MLAC with 20 properties. The brand recently opened InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Nature Spa and is set to open InterContinental Presidente Monterrey in Mexico in 2024. Future plans include the opening of InterContinental Grenada Resort in 2025.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, known for its design-forward hotels, has been expanding in the region with properties like Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa and Kimpton Virgilio in Mexico City. The brand is also set to open Kimpton Tres Ríos Riviera Maya, its first all-inclusive beachfront resort.

Vignette Collection, IHG’s newest luxury and lifestyle brand, is set to open El Gran Encomendero in the Yucatán Peninsula in 2025, offering unique stays in the historic town of Valladolid.

Hotel Indigo, inspired by its surrounding neighborhoods, recently opened Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach and Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés in Mexico. Hotel Indigo Tijuana is expected to open later this year.

IHG’s focus on luxury and lifestyle in the region is further highlighted by three milestone signings in Turks & Caicos for InterContinental, Kimpton, and Hotel Indigo, set to open by 2027.
