Mersham-le-Hatch Business Village in Ashford is defying the odds by thriving in a time when many high streets are struggling. The owners of the popular business park are now looking to expand the site to meet the growing demand for retail space.

Plans have been submitted for five additional retail units at the business village, which is located off the A20 near Ashford. The proposed expansion includes converting a recently converted garage into two more units and constructing a new building opposite to offer three additional spots.

The scheme, spearheaded by the late entrepreneur Jimmy Godden’s widow Rochelle, aims to maintain the site’s historical charm while meeting the needs of businesses looking for space. All current spots at the business park are occupied, prompting the need for new units that blend seamlessly with the existing architecture.

The potential expansion is not only a testament to the success of the business village but also a positive sign for the local economy. The new units are expected to create at least 10 new jobs, adding to the diverse mix of businesses already operating on the site.

Local business owners, such as Chloe Page of Mrs Page Aesthetics and Lucy Willcox of Easy Feet Podiatry, are excited about the prospect of the expansion. They believe that the business park provides a supportive community for entrepreneurs and offers a more viable alternative to traditional high street locations.

A decision on the plans is expected in May, but the enthusiasm from current tenants and the community bodes well for the future of Mersham-le-Hatch Business Village.
