The race for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League 2024 is heating up, with nine teams vying for a spot in the next phase of the competition. Mumbai Indians were the first team to be knocked out after a crushing defeat by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Currently, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are leading the points table, but they have not secured their place in the playoffs yet. KKR has 16 points and can secure a spot with just one more win, while Rajasthan Royals also need one more win to guarantee a playoffs spot.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, with 14 points, is also in the mix and can secure a spot with just 16 points if other results go their way. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans are all fighting for the remaining playoff spots.
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are direct contenders, with both teams having 12 points from 12 games. Lucknow Super Giants, after a disappointing loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, need at least 14 points to stay in the hunt.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings are also in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive. Gujarat Titans, currently at the bottom of the table, need to win all their remaining games and rely on other results to have a chance at making it to the playoffs.
With the competition heating up, every game becomes crucial for the teams as they battle it out for a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs.
