Last weekend in Chilmark was full of diverse and engaging events that brought the community together in celebration of art, nature, and hope. From Friday Reset at the museum to a profound gathering at Native Earth Teaching Farm, residents and visitors alike found solace and inspiration in the various offerings.
The weekend kicked off with a lively event at the museum, featuring local talent and familiar faces. The audience was treated to performances by Don Groover, Missis Biskis, Setsunai, and Allison Roberts, among others. The night ended with dancing, cake, and champagne, thanks to the efforts of Pathways founder Marianne Goldberg and her family.
Meanwhile, at Native Earth Teaching Farm, Rebecca Gilbert hosted a “Tending Our Grief” guided ritual gathering that left participants feeling comforted, moved, and inspired. Led by remarkable individuals like Marcia Conlon and Kathleen Ruleau, the gathering provided a safe space for attendees to explore their emotions and experiences.
Looking ahead, the community is gearing up to celebrate Earth Day with a Beach Cleanup this Saturday, April 27, at various locations around Chilmark. Volunteers will be rewarded with a free lunch at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, where a party and festival will be held from 12 to 3 pm.
As the town prepares for upcoming events like town meetings and tennis lessons for Chilmark School children, the sense of community and camaraderie is palpable. With the arrival of piglets at North Tabor Farm and onion starts in the ground, Chilmark is buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the weeks ahead.
