“Exploring Hainan’s Tourism and Culture: A Journey through China’s Sunshine Island” – International Media Tour

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The “Hello China, Sunshine Hainan” 2024 International Media Tour recently took place in Haikou City, showcasing the stunning tourism and cultural attractions of Hainan. Journalists from various international media outlets explored the island’s evolving features, such as duty-free shopping and wellness retreats, in line with the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port as a global tourism hub.

During the tour, journalists visited key locations like Haikou, Sanya, Qionghai, Danzhou, and Chengmai, providing insights into Hainan’s diverse offerings. From duty-free shopping to countryside excursions, yacht voyages, and cruise getaways, the journalists aimed to unveil the island’s rich tourism and culture within the context of the Free Trade Port.

Hainan has been actively promoting itself as an international tourism hub, attracting both domestic and international tourists. The province recently introduced a range of inbound tourism offerings, including cultural immersions, healthcare and wellness experiences, sports adventures, and more. The newly unveiled round-the-island tourist highway has become a major attraction in Hainan.

Moreover, Hainan expanded its visa-free entry policy to 59 countries earlier this year, offering more opportunities for international visitors. The province also launched the “Hainan Trust Pay” app, providing overseas tourists with convenient payment options.

To further promote Hainan’s tourism and culture globally, Xinhua News Agency and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports of Hainan Province initiated the selection of “Hainan Tourism and Cultural Excellence TOP 10.” This initiative has garnered attention from over 600 overseas media outlets, reaching millions of viewers worldwide. Hainan continues to position itself as a top destination for travelers seeking unique experiences and cultural immersion.
