Fable Studio to Launch AI Streaming Platform

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Fable Studio, an Emmy-winning San Francisco startup, has introduced a groundbreaking platform called Showrunner that allows users to create episodes with just a few words as a prompt. This platform utilizes generative artificial intelligence to write, voice, and animate episodes of shows, giving users the ability to control dialogue, characters, and shot types.

The release of Showrunner marks the tech industry’s increasing involvement in Hollywood, raising concerns about the potential impact on traditional content creators. Fable Studio previously showcased its AI technology by releasing an AI-generated episode of “South Park,” demonstrating the capabilities of AI tools in creating engaging content.

Chief executive Edward Saatchi envisions Showrunner as the “Netflix of AI,” where users can actively engage with content by creating their own episodes. The platform currently offers a waitlist for a free testing version, featuring 10 animated shows of various genres and styles created mostly with AI tools.

Users are encouraged to create their own episodes of the shows, with the best submissions being included in the official catalog. Winners will receive payment and revenue sharing if their show is picked up by a streaming platform. Showrunner’s technology allows users to create scenes that can be stitched together to form full-length episodes, offering a new level of interactive storytelling.

Fable Studio aims to keep costs down by having users create content for others to watch, sparking discussions about the impact of AI on the traditional entertainment industry. Showrunner is powered by Fable’s AI model, which was developed using publicly available data and aims to produce original and engaging content. The platform represents a significant step forward in the integration of AI technology in content creation.
