Somatus, a Tysons-based kidney-care company, has emerged as the highest-valued unicorn in Northern Virginia, with a valuation of over $1 billion. The company’s success can be attributed to its collaboration with talented individuals in the Fairfax County area, including nurses, patient health advocates, and business leaders. Alicia Palmer, Chief Legal Officer of Somatus and a Fairfax County resident, highlighted the abundance of talent in the area as a key factor in the company’s growth.

In a recent conversation with key members of Somatus, including Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Ikenna Okezie, the focus was on the company’s innovative technology, growth trajectory, and the advantages of having their headquarters in Fairfax County. The presence of great schools, public transportation, and proximity to international airports were cited as reasons for choosing Fairfax County as their base of operations.
