Family mourns loss of infant and grandparents in tragic Canadian crash | Global News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A tragic incident in Ontario has left a family devastated after a three-month-old baby and his grandparents visiting from India were killed in a traffic collision. The parents of the infant, Gokulnath Manivannan and Ashwitha Jawahar, expressed their profound grief in a statement released by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

The family described the unbearable pain of losing their child, Aditya Vivaan, and the void it has left in their hearts. They also shared their reluctance to enter their home, which is filled with memories of their son. The grandparents, Manivannan Srinivasapillai and Mahalakshmi Ananthakrishnan, who were visiting from Chennai, also lost their lives in the tragic accident.

The collision occurred after police officers chased a suspect who was fleeing the scene of a robbery. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old international student Gagandeep Singh, was driving in the wrong direction on a highway, leading to a multi-vehicle crash that claimed several lives.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for stricter laws regarding repeat offenders. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilivere criticized the current bail system that allowed the suspect to be out on bail despite facing charges for previous crimes.

As the family continues to grapple with their loss, they have emphasized the ongoing trauma and suffering they are experiencing. The survivors are dealing with physical injuries, surgeries, and emotional distress as they mourn the loss of their loved ones. The community has come together to support the grieving family during this difficult time.
