Fellow player makes humorous coaching offer to Emma Raducanu – Tennis Tonic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, may have found a potential new coach in Ons Jabeur, a formidable opponent on the WTA tour. Raducanu, who has struggled with injuries in recent months, has been on the lookout for a coach to help her return to her previous level of play.

Jabeur, who has reached the last two Wimbledon singles tournament finals, expressed her interest in coaching Raducanu in a recent interview. She stated, “I would say Emma Raducanu. I have a good relationship with her and I think I can help a little bit with some advice. I mean, I would not be the main coach; I would be the consultant, I guess, for a new job. Emma, if you’re hiring, I’m available.”

Currently ranked no. 205, Raducanu has had a mixed year so far with a 9-7 record. Her last match was against world no. 82 Maria Lourdes Carle in Madrid, where she suffered a 6-2 6-2 defeat in the first round.

On the other hand, Jabeur, ranked world no. 9, has a 7-9 match record in 2024. She is currently competing at the French Open, where she defeated world no. 124 Sachia Vickery in straight sets. Jabeur will face world no. 77 Maria Camila Osorio Serrano in the second round, with a 2-0 head-to-head record in her favor.

The potential partnership between Raducanu and Jabeur could prove to be a successful one, with Jabeur’s experience and skills complementing Raducanu’s talent on the court. Tennis fans will be eagerly watching to see how this collaboration unfolds in the future.
