The Lake Placid girls flag football team made history on Friday night by securing their first-ever victory in a thrilling match against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The Blue Bombers emerged victorious with a final score of 26-19 at the North Elba Athletic Fields.

The game was a nail-biter, with the score tied at 19-19 and only two minutes left on the clock. It was then that quarterback Anisa Cecunjanin made a game-changing long pass to freshman Eliza Fitzsimmons, who scored the winning touchdown. Senior Nadia Phillip sealed the deal by catching a pass from Cecunjanin for the extra point.

Coach Tammy Morgan praised Olivia Skutt for her outstanding defensive performance, leading the team in tackles despite playing only in the first half due to injury. The Blue Bombers, now 1-4 overall, showed great teamwork and determination throughout the game.

Offensive coordinators Kevin Morgan and David Snyder were also credited for their role in guiding the team to victory. The game saw both teams trading touchdowns, with Lake Placid ultimately coming out on top with a strong defensive effort in the second half.

The Blue Bombers are now gearing up to face the Schroon Lake Wildcats on Tuesday at the North Elba Athletic Fields. The team’s historic win has set the stage for an exciting season ahead, showcasing their talent and determination on the field.
