The 58th version of the Karlovy Range Movie Pageant is ready to showcase a powerful lineup of 32 official films, including 15 directorial debuts and the latest works of established filmmakers. The festival, which will run from June 28 to July 6 in the Czech Republic, promises a diverse selection of films that explore a wide range of themes and genres.
Among the notable films featured in the Crystal Globe Competition are “Impolite to Love,” a drama about a marriage losing its spark, “Banzo,” a story set in 1907 about a mysterious affliction called banzo, and “Pierce,” a thriller about a man released from juvenile prison.
In the Proxima Competition, films like “Windless,” “The Alienated,” and “Nothing in its Place” will be judged by a panel of industry experts. These films delve into themes of family bonds, political ideologies, and personal identity, offering a unique perspective on contemporary issues.
Special screenings at the festival include documentaries like “Czechoslovak Architecture 58–89” and “The Music of Others,” as well as feature films like “Real” by Oleh Sentsov and “The Other One” by Marie-Magdalena Kochová.
