Fitness Expo Gets Runners Ready for Sunday Marathon

The Marathon Health and Fitness Expo kicked off the Memorial Marathon weekend at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, drawing in runners and guests from all over. The event was filled with excitement and anticipation as participants prepared for the upcoming races.

For many, the expo was more than just a place to pick up race packets and browse through vendors. It was a place of reflection and remembrance. Runners shared their reasons for participating, whether it was to challenge themselves physically, honor the memory of loved ones, or simply to be a part of something meaningful.

The expo featured speakers like Joan Benoit, a legendary figure in the running world, who shared her experiences and insights with eager listeners. With over 60 vendors offering a variety of products and services, there was something for everyone, from seasoned runners to health and fitness enthusiasts.

One of the highlights of the expo was the “Bublee Pop,” a fun activity where participants could enter a giant clear globe filled with balloons. Owner Brian Martinez used this interactive experience as a way to honor those who lost their lives in the tragic events of April 19, 1995.

Within the expo, the “Why We Run” area provided a space for runners to learn about the victims of the bombing and pay tribute to them by wearing “in honor of” bibs. Expo Co-Chair Sara Sweet, who lost her father in the bombing, emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring those who were affected.

As the expo came to a close, participants left with a sense of purpose and determination, ready to take on the challenges of the upcoming races. The Marathon Health and Fitness Expo was not just a prelude to the Memorial Marathon, but a meaningful and impactful event in its own right.
