Five Bay softball players receive All-Conference honors

The MCCAA announced the 2024 end-of-the-year softball awards, and five Norse players from Bay College received honors for their outstanding contributions during the season. Sierra Jones, a sophomore from Calgary, AB, was named to the All-MCCAA Team and was the lone representative from Bay on the Northern Conference First Team.

Jones had an impressive season leading the team with a .447 batting average, .511 on-base percentage, and .776 slugging percentage. She also led the team in hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs. Jones showed great discipline at the plate with only three strikeouts in 90 plate appearances.

Desiree Bender, a sophomore from Sandusky, MI, was named to the Northern Conference Second Team. She played in all 27 games, hitting .329 with a .419 on-base percentage. Bender led the team in runs scored and also contributed as a pitcher, striking out 15 in 23.1 innings.

Hailee Duquaine, a freshman from Pulaski, WI, was named to the Northern Conference Second Team and the All-Freshman Team. She led the team in at-bats and was second in hits and runs scored. Duquaine also appeared as a pitcher in nine games.

Zoe Rumble, a sophomore from Blenheim, ON, was tied for second on the team with a .338 batting average and led the team in walks. Ava Mottin, a sophomore from Williamston, MI, also had a .338 batting average and showed great discipline at the plate.

Under first-year Head Coach Christine Gosse, the Norse finished the season with a 7-20 record, including a 7-13 record in conference play. Congratulations to all the Norse players on their well-deserved honors!
