Grace College School of Education Students Honored for Excellence in Student Teaching

Several students from Grace College School of Education were recently recognized for their outstanding performance in student teaching. Mallory Hiatt, Hayden Mullett, Olivia Bergman, Beverly Winters, and Anna Huggins were among the honorees, with Anna Huggins receiving the prestigious Micah 6:8 award.

Dr. Cheryl Bremer, the dean of Grace College’s School of Education, commended the students for their excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Each year, the School of Education selects students who demonstrate exceptional skills as student teachers and awards them with plaques and recognition for their achievements.

Mallory Hiatt, named Outstanding Future Reading Teacher, shared that her family’s background in education inspired her to pursue a career in teaching. She emphasized the importance of hands-on experience in shaping her teaching style and strategies.

Hayden Mullett, recognized as Outstanding Prospective Secondary Education Teacher, credited his second-grade teacher for inspiring him to become an educator. His practicum experience under the guidance of a Grace alumnus at Warsaw High School was a highlight of his training.

Olivia Bergman, named Outstanding Prospective Special Education Teacher, expressed gratitude for the support of her professors at Grace College. She plans to teach second grade at Madison Elementary School in Warsaw post-graduation.

Beverly Winters, recognized as Outstanding Prospective Elementary Education Teacher, highlighted the connections she formed with her students as the most rewarding aspect of her placements. She looks forward to teaching third grade at Mill Creek West Elementary in Amo this fall.

These students exemplify the dedication and passion for teaching that Grace College instills in its graduates, setting them on a path to make a positive impact in the field of education.
