Five Tigers Selected for Academic All-District Softball Team

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The University of Missouri softball team is celebrating a major academic achievement as five of its members were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators. Alex Honnold, Cierra Harrison, Kayley Lenger, Maddie Gallagher, and Kara Daly were recognized for their outstanding performances both on the field and in the classroom.

This marks a significant milestone for Mizzou, as the five selections are the most the team has ever had in a single season. Honnold and Daly, in particular, received the honor for the second time in their careers.

Honnold, a standout from West Des Moines, Iowa, boasts an impressive 3.906 GPA and is set to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Parks, Recreation, Sport, and Tourism: Sport Management. She led the SEC in doubles and was a key player for the Tigers throughout the season.

Harrison, Lenger, Gallagher, and Daly also demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuits while making significant contributions to the team’s success on the field. From no-hitters to All-SEC selections, these student-athletes have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with both academically and athletically.

As the Academic All-District honorees move on to the Academic All-America ballot, the Mizzou softball team and its fans eagerly await the announcement of the first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees on June 18. Stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow @MizzouSoftball on social media for the latest updates on these exceptional student-athletes.
