Flagstaff, Arizona has been named the top dog-friendly vacation destination in the U.S. according to a recent study by USA Today Blueprint. The study analyzed various data points including accommodations, restaurants, bars, vet offices, beaches, and trails to determine the most welcoming destinations for furry friends.

Flagstaff received a perfect score in the analysis, making it the overall best destination for a dog-friendly vacation. With its four-season climate and over 260 days of sunshine each year, Flagstaff offers a picturesque setting for both visitors and residents to enjoy. The town is also known for its emphasis on outdoor recreation, with 132 dog-friendly trails to explore.

Julie Pastrick, president and CEO of the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the town’s vast forests and the Flagstaff Urban Trails System as key attractions for outdoor enthusiasts and their pets. Flagstaff’s pet-friendly atmosphere extends to its restaurants and bars, with 39 dog-friendly restaurants per 100,000 residents and several pet-friendly bars.

One popular dog-friendly spot in Flagstaff is Charly’s Pub & Grill at the historic Weatherford Hotel, where dogs are welcome on the patio and can even order from a special “Pup Menu.” Additionally, Flagstaff offers a variety of dog-friendly accommodations, with the highest concentration of such options compared to other cities in the study.

Overall, Flagstaff’s commitment to providing a welcoming environment for pets and their owners has earned it the top spot as the best dog-friendly vacation destination in the U.S. Travelers looking to explore the great outdoors with their furry companions can rest assured that Flagstaff offers a plethora of options for a memorable and pet-friendly vacation experience.
