The American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region has sprung into action in response to the recent flooding in Harris, Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, and Trinity Counties. The organization has opened shelters in these areas to provide assistance to those affected by the rising waters.

Shawn Schulze, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Gulf Coast Red Cross, emphasized the importance of the work being done by their teams and partners to ensure that struggling families have access to essential resources. “Each family impacted by this flooding is being provided with a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, and a sense of hope, comfort, and care,” Schulze stated.

The Texas Gulf Coast Disaster Team is collaborating with local county officials and emergency managers to assess the needs of the communities affected by the flooding. Individuals in need of Red Cross assistance are encouraged to call 1-800-Red-Cross for support.

Several shelters have been opened in the affected counties, including locations in Harris, Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, and Trinity Counties. Those planning to stay in a Red Cross shelter are advised to bring essential items such as prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, and important documents.
