The No. 14 Florida Gators secured their 11th consecutive victory as they defeated the No. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks 4-3 in a thrilling match at the SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Gators, with a record of 16-7, showcased their dominance by clinching the doubles point early on.

In the singles matches, the Gamecocks (17-7) put up a tough fight, but the Gators remained resilient. Carly Briggs of Florida delivered a stellar performance, winning her match in straight sets against Shahar Biran. However, South Carolina fought back with victories on Courts 4 and 2, tying the overall score at 2-2.

The tension escalated as the match came down to the wire, with both teams vying for the crucial wins. Rachel Gailis of Florida secured a vital victory on Court 1, but South Carolina responded with a hard-fought win on Court 6, leveling the score at 3-3.

The fate of the match rested on Court 5, where Qavia Lopez of Florida battled Olympe Lancelot of South Carolina. After a grueling three-set match, Lopez emerged victorious, propelling the Gators to a 4-3 triumph and a spot in the tournament semifinals.

The Gators will now await the winner of the quarterfinal match between Texas A&M and Vanderbilt for their next challenge in the semifinals.
