flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has been recognized for its outstanding connectivity in the Middle East at the 23rd edition of the Business Traveller Middle East Awards. The airline was awarded the title of “Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East” at a prestigious ceremony held in Dubai, where Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, accepted the award on behalf of the airline.

The Business Traveller Middle East Awards are voted on by the public and readers of the magazine, making this recognition even more special for flydubai. The award highlights the airline’s strong business model and its commitment to creating free flows of trade and tourism, as well as opening up underserved destinations in the region.

In a statement following the award ceremony, Francois Oberholzer expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are pleased to have received this award as it recognizes our efforts and dedication to enhancing connectivity in the Middle East and beyond. Today, flydubai has created a network of more than 125 destinations in 58 countries served by a fleet of 86 aircraft. As we continue to expand our network, open up more underserved destinations, and increase the frequency on our existing routes, we look forward to enhancing connectivity for our passengers and reaffirming Dubai’s position as an international aviation hub.”

Since its inception in 2009, flydubai has carried over 100 million passengers and has introduced more than 90 new routes that previously did not have direct air links to Dubai or the UAE. The airline’s commitment to expanding its network and providing seamless connectivity has been a key factor in its success and recognition in the industry.

In 2024 alone, flydubai has already launched flights to several new destinations, including Mombasa in Kenya, Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, as well as Al Jouf and The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. The airline is also gearing up to launch new routes to Basel in Switzerland, Riga in Latvia, Tallinn in Estonia, and Vilnius in Lithuania, further expanding its reach in Europe and beyond.

With a focus on enhancing connectivity and providing a seamless travel experience for passengers, flydubai continues to solidify its position as a leading airline in the Middle East. The recognition received at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards is a testament to the airline’s dedication to excellence and innovation in the aviation industry.
