Former Delaware drive-in theater site transformed into business park

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The long-vacant drive-in theater north of Felton is set to undergo a transformation, as plans have been proposed to turn the site into a business/industrial park. The property owner, Felton Drive-In LLC, and president Jeffrey Garrison are behind the proposal to bring six small businesses to the 8.16-acre site where the former theater once stood.

The project, located on the west side of Route 13 at 9758 S. Dupont Highway, will feature six buildings, each 9,750 square feet, totaling 58,500 square feet. The buildings are designed to cater to local contractors and small businesses, providing much-needed space for their operations.

The site has been vacant for years, with only the movie screen, a house, and another building remaining. The screen and building will be demolished, but the house will remain for now, potentially for commercial development closer to the highway. The business/industrial park will be located farther west of Route 13.

The county regional planning commission has already approved the site plan application, with commissioner Paul Davis praising the project as a great improvement to the area. The development will bring new life to a once-abandoned site, providing opportunities for local businesses to thrive.

The transformation of the former drive-in theater site is a testament to the changing landscape of entertainment and business in the area. As the project moves forward, it will be interesting to see how the new business/industrial park contributes to the economic growth and revitalization of the Felton community.
