Former NFL head coach Jeff Fisher appointed interim commissioner of Arena Football League

The Arena Football League is facing a rocky start in its third life, with teams folding and players facing dire situations. In a bid to stabilize the league, former NFL head coach Jeff Fisher has been appointed as the interim commissioner.

One player’s agent described a chaotic scene at a motel where players were allegedly kicked out and left without their belongings. The lack of financial stability and support from the NFL Network, which was supposed to televise games, has added to the league’s challenges.

Despite the uphill battle, Fisher remains optimistic about the league’s future. “This league is good. We’re looking forward to continuing and finishing the season,” he said.

While Fisher’s appointment may not solve all of the AFL’s problems, his experience in spring football could provide a stabilizing presence as the league navigates its next steps. Whether the AFL can bounce back for a second season or face another bankruptcy remains to be seen.
