Former Prime Minister Imran Khan chooses prison over making a deal to exploit Pakistan, reports World News

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has made a bold statement from behind bars, declaring that he would rather serve nine more years in prison than strike a deal with those he believes have “enslaved” his country.

In a message released on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s 28th Foundation Day, Khan criticized the “worst dictatorship” that he claims has led to the destruction of the economy, government rule, democracy, and judiciary in Pakistan. He called on every individual to play their part in preventing the country’s further decline.

Khan, who has been in jail for the past nine months on what he calls “fake and concocted cases,” vowed to never compromise on his or his nation’s freedom. Despite facing multiple convictions since his removal from power in April 2022, Khan remains steadfast in his refusal to negotiate with those he believes have enslaved Pakistan.

The former cricketer-turned-politician’s message comes amidst a crackdown on his party by the powerful military, with arrests and desertions following his arrest last year. PTI leader Shehryar Afridi has stated that the party will only engage in talks with the military leadership, emphasizing the need to prioritize the country’s security.

Despite facing pressure and speculation about secret talks with the establishment, Khan’s PTI remains resolute in its stance. The party won over 90 seats in the National Assembly in the recent general election but was sidelined from forming a federal government by a post-poll alliance led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Peoples Party.
