Former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko added to Russia’s wanted list | Global News

Russia has put former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on its wanted list, according to Russian state media reports citing the Interior Ministry’s database. Tymoshenko is listed as wanted on unspecified criminal charges, as reported by Russian state news agency Tass.

Tymoshenko now joins Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, on the same wanted list, which also includes numerous officials and lawmakers from Ukraine and NATO countries. Mediazona, an independent Russian news outlet, revealed that both Zelenskyy and Poroshenko had been listed since at least late February.

Among the notable figures on the list is Kaja Kallas, the prime minister of NATO and EU member Estonia, who has been a vocal advocate for increased military aid to Kyiv and stronger sanctions against Moscow. Russian officials claim that Kallas is wanted due to Estonia’s efforts to remove Soviet-era monuments to Red Army soldiers, which Russia considers a form of rehabilitating Nazism.

The list also includes cabinet ministers from Estonia and Lithuania, as well as the International Criminal Court prosecutor who prepared a warrant for President Vladimir Putin on war crimes charges. Additionally, Russia has charged the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, with terrorist activities related to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian infrastructure.

The inclusion of such prominent figures on Russia’s wanted list highlights the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the broader geopolitical implications of the conflict.
