A former cop, accused of a double murder and rape, tragically ended his own life during a police chase in Oregon. Elias Huizar, 39, was being pursued by Oregon State Police troopers on Interstate 5 near Eugene when he fatally shot himself after crashing his car.

The harrowing incident unfolded after Huizar was accused of killing his ex-wife, Amber Rodriguez, and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Angelica Santos. The shocking events took place just hours before he was scheduled to appear in court for charges related to the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Huizar’s violent rampage began when he allegedly shot Rodriguez outside the elementary school where she worked in West Richland. He then fled with his 1-year-old son, Roman Santos, who was later found safe in police custody. Authorities also discovered the lifeless body of Santos inside Huizar’s home during a search.

Prior to these heinous crimes, Huizar had been arrested in February for the rape of his underage girlfriend’s friend after a night of drinking at his residence. Despite being released on bond, he was prohibited from contact with minors and alcohol.

The tragic end to Huizar’s life serves as a chilling reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and abuse. The community is left mourning the loss of two innocent lives and grappling with the aftermath of such senseless violence.
