Vineet Nayyar, the former Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra, has passed away at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and mentorship. The news was shared by former Tech Mahindra MD and CEO CP Gurnani on social media, expressing his deep sorrow at the loss of a great leader.

Gurnani described Nayyar as a friend, philosopher, brother, guide, and statesman par excellence, highlighting the impact Nayyar had on his own professional journey. He shared fond memories and learnings from working with Nayyar, praising his contribution to building India and turning around Satyam-TechM.

In a tribute post on LinkedIn earlier this year, Gurnani celebrated Nayyar as a ‘Guru’ who shaped his approach to learning and leadership over three decades. He credited Nayyar with instilling in him valuable lessons in patience, consensus management, and a focus on the bottom line.

Gurnani also shared the powerful leadership lessons he learned from Nayyar, including the importance of making bold decisions, understanding legal intricacies, practicing humility and humor, managing stress, and optimizing resource utilization.

The passing of Vineet Nayyar marks the end of an era in Indian business leadership, but his teachings and principles will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of working with him. His legacy as a visionary leader and mentor will live on in the hearts of many.
