Fortescue’s New Hydrogen Facility in Buckeye to Enhance U.S. Green Energy Production

Fortescue, a global leader in green energy, has made a significant leap forward in the U.S. with the official launch of its first green hydrogen production facility, Arizona Hydrogen, in Buckeye, Arizona. The facility, which was celebrated with a soil turn ceremony and renaming event, marks a crucial milestone in the company’s efforts to promote sustainable energy production.

Dr. Andrew Forrest AO, Fortescue’s Executive Chair and Founder, praised the Biden administration for its support of the energy transition but also highlighted the importance of policies that foster rather than hinder progress in green energy initiatives. He expressed concerns about potential regulations, such as the 45V tax credit, that could impede the industry’s growth and limit economic opportunities.

Despite these challenges, the Arizona Hydrogen facility is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region. During construction, the facility could generate over 2,000 jobs and contribute millions to Arizona’s GDP. Once operational, it will sustain high-paying jobs and further boost the state’s economy.
