Four people injured as multiple military horses run loose in London

The bustling streets of London were thrown into chaos on Wednesday morning as several riderless horses from the Household Cavalry bolted during routine exercises near King Charles III’s main residence. The horses ran loose through the city centre, causing panic and injuring at least four people.

The incident occurred in Belgravia, a posh neighborhood just west of Buckingham Palace, when the horses became spooked by noise from nearby construction workers. The animals galloped down main roads, colliding with vehicles and stunning commuters during the morning rush hour.

Pictures and videos of the runaway horses quickly spread on social media, showing the animals running at speed through the heart of London. One of the horses appeared to have a head injury, with blood or red paint visible on its front.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos and distress as the horses charged through the streets. A taxi near Buckingham Palace had a window smashed, while a double-decker tour bus had its windshield damaged in the commotion.

The London Ambulance Service treated four people in separate incidents caused by the runaway horses. The animals were eventually captured and are currently undergoing medical tests.

An army spokesperson confirmed that all the horses have been recovered and returned to camp. Both personnel and horses sustained injuries during the incident and are receiving medical attention.

The Household Cavalry is known for its ceremonial duties as the monarch’s guard and is a regular feature at state functions in London. The cause of the horses bolting is still under investigation.
