Marriott’s Four Points Express by Sheraton to Expand in Japan

Marriott’s affordable brand, Four Points Express by Sheraton, is set to make a significant expansion into Japan with the announcement of 14 new hotels in the country. This move comes after investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. acquired Unizo Hotel Company and Unizo Holdings’ portfolio of Japanese hospitality properties, which will now be rebranded under the Four Points Express name.

Rajeev Menon, Marriott International’s president of the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China, highlighted the growing demand for reliable yet affordable accommodation in Japan. He emphasized the company’s commitment to providing the right property in the right location at the right price point to meet the needs of their guests.

Four Points Express was launched as a more budget-friendly option compared to the upscale Four Points by Sheraton brand. The expansion into Japan marks a strategic move by Marriott to tap into the midscale hotel market in the region.

The conversion of existing properties into Four Points Express hotels is part of Marriott’s growth strategy for the brand. With the rebound of tourism in Japan post-pandemic, there is a growing demand for high-quality yet affordable accommodation options, making this expansion a timely and strategic move for Marriott and KKR.

The renovated properties in cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Yokohama will offer guests clean and comfortable rooms, complimentary breakfast, and Wi-Fi, in line with the brand’s signature offerings. The collaboration between Marriott and KKR aims to cater to the evolving needs of travelers in Japan and provide them with a value-driven hospitality experience.
