Four Women’s Tennis Players Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

The Portland State women’s tennis team continues to excel both on and off the court, as four student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for the second consecutive year.

Junior Nika Beukers and senior Makoto Ohara received the honor for the second time, while sophomore Elizabeth Strongina and fifth-year senior Momoko Yoshimura earned the recognition for the first time in their careers. These student-athletes have not only excelled in their sport but have also maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

All four honorees appeared in at least 15 of the Vikings’ 16 matches in 2024 while maintaining an impressive combined 3.78 cumulative GPA. Strongina, with a 3.73 GPA in Human Resource Management, posted six wins at No. 1 singles and six doubles victories. Beukers, with a 3.98 GPA in Marketing, notched five singles wins and a 10-5 doubles record. Yoshimura, with a 3.73 GPA in Arts and Letters, led the Vikings in doubles with an 11-2 record and also performed well in singles play. Ohara, with a 3.68 GPA in Advertising Management, finished her career ranked second all-time in both singles and doubles wins.

The Portland State women’s tennis team’s success both on the court and in the classroom is truly commendable, and their dedication to excellence serves as an inspiration to student-athletes everywhere.
