Framingham Physical Education Teacher Competes to Become America’s Favorite

FRAMINGHAM — Ellen Margiotta, a dedicated physical education instructor at the Mary E. Stapleton Elementary School, is vying for the title of America’s Favorite Teacher in a contest sponsored by Reader’s Digest. The winner of this prestigious competition will receive $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and the opportunity to be featured in the renowned family magazine.

Margiotta, who has been teaching in the Framingham Public Schools since 2007, is known for her innovative approach to education. By incorporating personal experiences, her love for children, and a passion for physical activity, she strives to help all students succeed in physical education.

“I consider the Stapleton community my family,” Margiotta shared in an interview with the Daily News. “I’m like the poster child for letting everyone know how wonderful and amazing our school is.”

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she has organized various events like the Golden Eagle 5K, the Gauntlet obstacle course, and the Harry Potter House Challenge Week. Margiotta’s fundraising initiatives have also contributed to the construction of Stapleton’s rock wall and turf fields.

If she emerges victorious in the contest, Margiotta plans to use the prize money to soundproof the gym at Stapleton and treat 20 teachers and friends to a trip to Hawaii. As of April 25, she was in second place in her group, inching closer to the top spot.

To support Margiotta in her quest to become America’s Favorite Teacher, individuals can vote for her on the contest website. The grand prize winner is expected to be announced around June 7, so stay tuned to see if Margiotta clinches the title.
