Fraternity brothers in North Carolina defend American flag during UNC protest, John Rich to perform concert

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Country music star John Rich has offered to perform for free at the University of North Carolina in honor of the fraternity brothers who protected a U.S. flag from protesters. The event, dubbed “Flagstock,” is set to be a celebration of patriotism and unity.

The fraternity brothers, members of Pi Kappa Phi, stood their ground around the American flag despite facing insults, middle fingers, and flying water bottles from protesters. They were determined to protect the flag and prevent it from being torn down.

The incident began when pro-Palestinian protestors raised the Palestinian flag on the pole, prompting Chancellor Lee Roberts to intervene and re-hang the U.S. flag. When protesters tried again to take down the American flag, the fraternity brothers and other students stepped in to protect it.

The video of the fraternity brothers defending the flag went viral, inspiring someone to set up a GoFundMe page for them. The page has raised over $480,000 from more than 14,500 donors, with the organizers planning to throw a party for the fraternity brothers.

The fraternity brothers, described as the “Broleteriat,” have received overwhelming support for their actions, with many praising their dedication to standing up for their beliefs. The funds raised will go towards honoring and celebrating their commitment to patriotism and brotherhood.
