Free Legal Services and Habitat for Humanity Classes

Habitat for Humanity of Pueblo is offering a unique opportunity for families to achieve homeownership through their sweat equity program. The agency is gearing up to provide a series of homebuyer education courses to help families navigate the process of building their own homes.

The upcoming courses include a Homebuyer 101 class on June 1, a goal-setting course on July 6, and a budget and credit course on Aug. 3. All classes will be held at the Habitat office located at 2313 S. Prairie Ave from 10 a.m. to noon.

In addition to the homebuyer education courses, free legal services will be available on June 6 through the Colorado Legal Services Pueblo County Pro Bono Project. The services include assistance with power of attorney and advanced planning documents, such as living wills and health privacy forms. Furthermore, the Southern Colorado Construction Forum is scheduled for June 6 at Pueblo Community College. The event will feature information on upcoming capital construction projects from local government agencies and prime contractors. Attendees can network with presenters and enjoy breakfast at the exhibitor tables. Registration for the forum is $20 and includes breakfast. Lastly, the Pueblo Board of Water Works has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 annual budget. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Pueblo Water has received the award, showcasing their commitment to excellence in governmental budgeting. Finance Manager Leroy Rittgers has played a key role in this achievement, reflecting the dedication of the entire Pueblo Water staff to providing high-quality water services at an affordable cost.
