Fremont High School’s Nora Pentel made her mark at the Class A state tennis tournament, securing the Tigers’ lone medal with an eighth-place finish in the No. 1 singles bracket. Pentel’s journey to the podium was filled with determination and skill, showcasing her talent on the court.

Pentel started the tournament strong, defeating her first-round opponent 8-0 and setting up a crucial match with Papillion-La Vista South’s Ingrid Hale. Despite facing an unfamiliar opponent, Pentel remained composed and secured a victory to guarantee herself a state medal.

In the quarterfinals, Pentel faced top-seeded Brianna Rademacher, putting up a valiant effort but ultimately falling to the eventual state champion. Despite the tough competition, Pentel’s performance earned her a spot among the top eight competitors in the state.

While Pentel faced some challenges on the final day of the tournament, her coach, Bigsby, commended her for her strong play throughout the competition. Pentel’s determination and skill on the court were evident, and she expressed her goal to aim even higher in the future.

Fremont High School finished 11th in the team standings, narrowly missing out on a Top 10 finish. With five of the six competitors set to return next year, the Tigers are already looking ahead to the next season and setting their sights on even greater success. Pentel’s impressive performance at the state tournament has set the stage for what promises to be an exciting season of tennis for Fremont High School.
