The envoys of Australia and the US have praised the women of Saudi Arabia for their remarkable work and achievements across various sectors of the country’s economy. In a recent interview with Arab News, Deputy Chief of Mission Alison Dilworth from the US and Deputy Head of Mission Kim Ralston from Australia shared their experiences of working alongside Saudi women and witnessing their perseverance firsthand.
Dilworth expressed her admiration for the Saudi women she has met, highlighting their accomplishments in fields such as technology, finance, arts, and diplomacy. She commended their drive and stated that she is proud to collaborate with them. The US Embassy, in partnership with other embassies, hosts a Women’s Majlis every month to celebrate women’s achievements and share expertise in a private setting.
On the other hand, Ralston emphasized the close relations between Australia and Saudi Arabia in agriculture and food security, with a focus on promoting trade and removing barriers. She has worked with Saudi women in various sectors such as public and private, sports, and the arts, and has been inspired by their intelligence and passion for their work.
Both envoys highlighted the importance of events like the Women’s Majlis in fostering cooperation and sharing experiences between Saudi and foreign women. Dilworth mentioned a recent event focused on women in the technology sector, while Ralston recalled a gathering centered on women in poetry, where female poets shared their original works.
Despite misconceptions about Saudi women, both envoys encouraged people to visit the Kingdom and witness firsthand the talents and motivations of Saudi women. They emphasized the need to correct misconceptions through personal experiences and interactions with the women living and working in Saudi Arabia.
Overall, the envoys’ praise for the women of Saudi Arabia reflects a deep appreciation for their achievements and a recognition of their contributions to various sectors of the economy. Through collaboration and shared experiences, they aim to build stronger ties and promote gender equality in the Kingdom.
