French Open 2024: Andy Murray et Jack Draper éliminés au premier tour, mais Carlos Alcaraz avance | Actualités de Tennis

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Andy Murray’s final French Open campaign came to an end in the first round as he was defeated by Stan Wawrinka at Roland Garros. The three-time Grand Slam champion, who has hinted at retirement after this summer, was overpowered by the 2015 French Open winner in a straight-sets loss.

Murray, once the world No 1, struggled to find his rhythm against Wawrinka, who broke him in the first game of the match and maintained his dominance throughout. Despite creating break point opportunities, Murray was unable to capitalize and eventually fell 6-4 6-4 6-2 to the Swiss veteran.

The defeat means Murray will not advance to a potential second-round meeting with Cameron Norrie, leaving Norrie and Dan Evans as the remaining Brits in the men’s singles draw. Jack Draper also suffered a first-round exit after a five-set battle against Jesper de Jong.

Meanwhile, in other matches, Carlos Alcaraz cruised through his opener, dropping just four games to beat JJ Wolf in straight sets. Andrey Rublev, the sixth seed, fought hard to overcome Taro Daniel in a challenging three-hour match.

In the women’s singles, Naomi Osaka survived a scare in her first-round match against Lucia Bronzetti, while former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko secured a straight-sets victory over Jaqueline Cristian.

As the action continues at Roland Garros, fans can follow all the updates on Skysports.com and the Sky Sports app. With exciting matches and top players in action, the French Open promises to deliver thrilling tennis moments for fans around the world.
