Reading Time: < 1 minute

Three of the area’s defending champions are gearing up for the Section VI baseball and softball playoffs as the action gets underway this Friday. Fredonia, Gowanda, and North Collins are all top seeds in their respective classes, looking to defend their titles from last year.

In softball, Falconer is also a top seed in Class B2, while Ellicottville leads the pack in Class D. The Hillbillies, Panthers, and Eagles all had successful seasons in 2023, with Fredonia winning a Class B2 softball title, Gowanda and North Collins claiming baseball championships, and all three teams falling short in the Far West Regional matchups.

The playoff action kicks off with prequarterfinal games on Friday, with several exciting matchups to look forward to. In Class A2 baseball, Dunkirk will host Albion, while Fredonia, Southwestern, Salamanca, Falconer, and other teams will battle it out in their respective classes.

On Saturday, quarterfinal softball games will take center stage, with teams vying for a spot in the next round. The competition will be fierce as teams like Fredonia, Falconer, Gowanda, and others look to advance in their quest for a championship.

As the playoffs progress, fans can expect thrilling matchups and intense competition as teams fight for a chance to be crowned champions. Stay tuned for more updates and results as the Section VI baseball and softball playoffs unfold.
