Wheeling Central’s Josie Frizzell continued her dominant pitching streak on Wednesday, striking out 12 batters in a 2-0 victory over the Linsly Cadets at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex. This impressive performance comes after Frizzell’s back-to-back stellar outings earlier in the week, where she recorded double-digit strikeouts in each game.

Head coach Buck Davidson praised Frizzell’s consistency on the mound, noting that her ability to throw strikes has been instrumental in the team’s success. Despite a strong pitching performance from Linsly’s Madison Applegarth, Wheeling Central managed to score two runs in the first inning through some unconventional plays.

While Central’s offense struggled to find its rhythm after the first inning, opportunistic baserunning and solid defense secured the win. Linsly had a chance to rally in the final inning, loading the bases, but Frizzell shut down their comeback attempt with a crucial strikeout.

Linsly head coach Paul Recrosio acknowledged Frizzell’s skill but expressed disappointment in his team’s lack of discipline at the plate. Despite the loss, Linsly looks forward to a rematch with Wheeling Central in the near future.

With the win, Wheeling Central looks ahead to their next game against Oak Glen, while Linsly prepares to face Clay-Battelle. Frizzell’s dominant pitching performance and Wheeling Central’s resilient play on both offense and defense have set the stage for an exciting rematch between these two competitive teams.
