Frontier Airlines adds 5 new routes to San Jose schedule

Frontier Airlines is making a triumphant return to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) this summer, with the launch of five new daily nonstop routes to prominent western U.S. cities. This marks the budget carrier’s first-ever service to San Jose, after previously serving the airport in 2018 and part of 2019.

The new routes, set to begin in late July and August, will connect San Jose to Denver International Airport (DEN), San Diego International Airport (SAN), Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). The daily flights will provide travelers with more options for affordable air travel in the Bay Area.

Frontier’s expansion in San Jose is part of a larger network shake-up by the airline, which has been focusing on adding new routes to key cities and eliminating change and cancellation fees for many ticket types. This strategy aims to attract more travelers, especially those visiting friends and relatives, and return the airline to profitability.

The arrival of Frontier in San Jose will bring more variety to the airport’s list of carriers, which currently includes Southwest Airlines as a dominant player.
