Frontier introduces two additional Caribbean routes departing from San Juan

Frontier Airlines is expanding its presence in the Caribbean with the launch of two new routes from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The ultra-low-cost carrier will begin nonstop service from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to Cibao International Airport in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and to Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados.

The new routes are set to launch between mid-June and early July, with three weekly round trips for each route. This expansion comes as Frontier continues to grow its footprint in San Juan, where it recently opened a crew base.

Prior to these new routes, Frontier was already planning to increase its scheduled seats from San Juan by 38% this summer, contributing to an overall seat growth of over 10% from the airport. The airline has been focusing on the Caribbean and Latin America markets to attract passengers traveling to visit friends and relatives.

In addition to the Caribbean routes, Frontier also announced a new route within the contiguous United States, with nonstop service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Miami International Airport starting July 3. This route will see Frontier competing with American Airlines, although the frequency of flights is significantly lower compared to American’s operations between the two hubs.

With these new routes, Frontier will have a total of eight destinations within the Caribbean and Latin America from San Juan. The airline’s expansion efforts demonstrate its commitment to providing affordable travel options to passengers in the region.
