University of Otago graduate Shah Aslam is on a mission to transform New Zealand’s transport industry with his groundbreaking project. As the chief executive of Ocean Flyer, he has secured a $700 million deal with REGENT to introduce 25 all-electric seagliders to the country.

These zero-emission, high-speed vessels are set to revolutionize mass public transport, offering a sustainable and efficient mode of travel. Backed by investors like Peter Thiel and Mark Cuban, Ocean Flyer’s order book stands at $15 billion, with a recent $145 million deal to finance the acquisition.

Despite facing skepticism and naysayers, Mr. Aslam remains undeterred in his pursuit of innovation. He envisions a future where seagliders connect regions across New Zealand, providing fast and affordable transportation options for all.

Born in Pakistan and educated at the University of Otago, Mr. Aslam’s journey to revolutionize the transport industry is fueled by his passion for aviation and his desire to make a difference. With a focus on regional connectivity and accessibility, he aims to create lasting memories and improve the quality of life for all New Zealanders.

While challenges have arisen along the way, Mr. Aslam remains resilient and determined to see his vision come to fruition. As he continues to push boundaries and defy expectations, the future of transport in New Zealand looks brighter than ever.
