Gabi Garcia forced to postpone MMA comeback following devastating floods in Brazil

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Jiu-jitsu legend Gabi Garcia’s highly anticipated return to MMA has once again been cancelled, this time due to the tragic floods that have devastated her hometown of Porto Alegre, Brazil. The cancellation comes as a blow to fans who were eagerly awaiting Garcia’s rematch with Barbara Nepomuceno at Centurion FC.

Originally scheduled for April 25 in Sao Paulo, the match was postponed to May 18 for unknown reasons before being ultimately called off by the promotion. Garcia, who holds a first-round submission win over Nepomuceno from their previous encounter at RIZIN 14 in 2018, expressed disappointment over the decision but understood the moral implications of competing while her family and community were suffering.

Despite her personal struggles, including a legal battle with her husband and the health issues of her godfather, Garcia remains determined to make a triumphant comeback in the MMA world. She has been training rigorously and is focused on showcasing her striking skills in front of the Sao Paulo crowd, with a promise to not take Nepomuceno down but instead aim for a knockout victory.

Garcia’s resilience and determination in the face of adversity have inspired many, and she hopes to reschedule the fight with Nepomuceno as soon as possible. Despite the setbacks and challenges she has faced, Garcia’s fighting spirit remains unbroken as she continues to push forward in pursuit of her MMA goals.
