The St. Edmond boys golf team is gearing up for an exciting 2024 season with a mix of experienced players and promising newcomers. Head coach Matt Dillon is optimistic about the team’s potential, despite having only two regulars returning to the lineup.

Senior Hayden Derrig and sophomore Jack McElroy bring valuable varsity experience to the team, along with junior Landon Saathoff. Freshman Ty Mericle has already shown promise and earned a spot in the early rotation, supported by juniors Max Nguyen and Kade Schlegel. Sophomore Kinnick Henning is also vying for a varsity position, adding depth to the roster.

Coach Dillon emphasized the importance of consistency in the team’s performance, especially in the short game. With a focus on improving their chipping and putting skills, the team aims to have four players consistently scoring in the upper-30s to mid-40s.

The team kicked off their season with a match against Southeast Valley in Gowrie and will have their home opener against South Central Calhoun at Lakeside. With a challenging schedule ahead, including matchups against Algona and Humboldt, the St. Edmond boys golf team is ready to showcase their skills and compete at a high level in the 2024 season.
