Reading Time: < 1 minute

Gamecity Hamburg has announced its support for five game projects in its 2024 funding round, providing up to 80,000 euros ($86,600) in non-repayable funds. This early-stage funding aims to assist start-ups in Hamburg in developing prototypes of digital games, with the awarding committee recognizing high market potential in all the funded projects.

Two of the five funding recipients have previously completed Gamecity Hamburg’s Games Lift Incubator, and game developers can apply for the Games Lift Incubator Program 2024 until June 10.

The committee praised the quality and diversity of the 29 projects submitted this year, marking the sixth funding round since 2020 and bringing the total number of supported prototypes to 31. The application phase for the next funding round is set to begin in spring 2025.

Dennis Schoubye, head of Gamecity Hamburg and a member of the awarding committee, expressed delight in supporting the five teams that will enhance the diversity of teams and games from Hamburg. The funded projects include Chaos Royale by Monodot, Map Map by Pipapo Games, The Regreening by Positive Impact Games, A Most Honorable Bunch by Osmotic Studios, and Melodies by Behind the Stone.

Each project offers a unique gaming experience, from strategic player-versus-player gameplay to cozy exploration and narrative deduction adventures. The recipients were selected by an awarding committee comprising industry experts from Hamburg, with the next application phase for prototype funding scheduled for spring 2025.
