Iowa State University’s Gamma Sigma Delta chapter welcomed 39 new members during a prestigious ceremony held in Curtiss Hall’s Dolezal Auditorium. The annual award ceremony, which took place on April 16, 2024, recognized individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to agricultural science and education.
Among the highlights of the event were the presentation of mission awards to faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to teaching, research, extension, and international agriculture. Notable recipients included Karl Kerns for Research, Barbara Clawson for Teaching, Steven Lonergan for International Agriculture, and Adam Thoms for Extension.
The ceremony also honored alumni and students, with Patrick McGonegle receiving the Alumni Award of Merit for his outstanding achievements in the field of animal science. Additionally, Dan Loy was recognized with the Distinguished Achievement in Agriculture Award for his exemplary service as a former director of the Iowa Beef Center and Extension beef specialist.
Two scholarships were awarded to standout Iowa State students, Calvin Moioffer and Alexia Corwin, in recognition of their academic excellence. The event also saw the initiation of new undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary medicine students into the prestigious honor society of agriculture.
Gamma Sigma Delta aims to promote excellence in agricultural pursuits and uphold high standards of scholarship in agricultural science and education.
