Garbine Muguruza, Spanish Tennis Star, Seen with Fiancé Following Retirement Announcement

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The world of women’s tennis is set to undergo a major transformation as some of the top stars have announced their retirement this year. Among them, American player Danielle Collins will be hanging up her racquet after the 2024 season. However, the most shocking revelation came from Spanish star Garbine Muguruza, a 2-time Grand Slam champion, who has decided to put an end to her career after taking a break from the sport last season.

Despite her retirement, the 30-year-old Muguruza has not completely turned her back on tennis. Born in Venezuela but now settled in Spain, it was no surprise to see her in attendance at the Madrid Open. Accompanied by her fiancé Arthur Borges, Muguruza made a starry appearance in the stands at the Caja Magica, raising wild interest among fans and fellow players.

Seated ahead of tournament director Feliciano Lopez and former player Daniella Hantuchova, Muguruza and Borges looked elegant in blazers, with the Spanish star sporting stylish transparent purple sunglasses. The couple’s presence added a touch of glamour to the event, as they enjoyed the tennis action unfolding on the court.

Muguruza’s decision to retire came after a period of reflection on her mental well-being and personal life. Having not played for over a year, the Spanish-Venezuelan star bid farewell to her illustrious career earlier this year, leaving a void in the women’s tennis circuit. Despite stepping away from professional competition, Muguruza’s love for the sport remains evident as she continues to support and engage with the tennis community.
