Gastonia Baseball Club Seeks Temporary Name | Local Sports Update

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Gastonia Baseball Club in North Carolina is gearing up for their first game of the season, but there’s one major detail missing – a permanent team name. For now, the team will go by the Gastonia Gastronauts for the 2024 season, as announced in a space-themed video trailer on Facebook.

However, the club is looking to the community for help in choosing a permanent name. They plan to test out at least eight possible ideas throughout the season. To involve fans in the decision-making process, the team will host eight “What If” nights where attendees can hear the potential names for 2025 and beyond. These special nights will also feature limited-edition merchandise and giveaways.

The “What If” nights are scheduled for various dates throughout the season, including May 14-19, June 4-9, July 26-28, August 2-4, August 16-18, August 23-25, August 30-September 1, and September 13 & 14. In addition to the naming process, the team has planned a lineup of themed nights for the season, such as Retro Night, Veterans Appreciation, 90’s Party, Wizard Night, Margaritaville Night, and Christmas in July.

Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead as they participate in choosing the team’s permanent name and enjoy the various themed nights at the ballpark.
