Gauff and Sabalenka battle for the No. 2 spot in Rome

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Coco Gauff is gearing up for the Italian Open with a chance to leapfrog Aryna Sabalenka and secure the world No 2 spot. The young American tennis sensation has been making waves in the sport since her spectacular US Open victory last September. Despite currently being ranked third in the world, Gauff is determined to prove that she deserves to be among the top players.

With the Italian Open underway, Gauff has a clear goal in mind – reach at least the semi-finals and outperform Sabalenka to claim the No 2 ranking. If Sabalenka falters before the quarter-finals and Gauff makes it to the last four, she will surpass the Belarusian player. However, if Sabalenka reaches the quarter-finals or semi-finals, Gauff will need to go even further and potentially face her in the final to secure the coveted spot.

While Gauff has not had much success in Rome in recent years, she is motivated to change that this season. Earning the second seed at Roland-Garros would be a significant achievement for the rising star, giving her a better chance at a deep run in the tournament. With her resilience and determination, Gauff is ready to prove her critics wrong and show that she belongs among the top players in the world.

As the Italian Open unfolds, all eyes will be on Gauff as she aims to make a statement and solidify her position as one of the best in the game. With her talent and drive, there is no doubt that Coco Gauff has what it takes to rise to the top and continue her impressive journey in the world of tennis.
